Often, expecting parents ask me when is the best time to do a newborn photo session. My answer to that question might be very different from per your situation and what you prefer, but generally when your little one is 10 days or younger.
The first few days of a new baby are very special and and a one time experience. Consequently, soon after the birth and most parents will likely sleep deprived, our memory quickly becomes foggy. So photographs help you remember he little thinks you do not want to forget.
It can be harder for first-time parents to know when the time is right. Almost always, I would suggest contacting a photographer at least eight weeks before your due date. This is to make sure you are on the schedule, and on another note you have plenty of time to ask questions and get to know them. Also, you may even visit the studio before the arrival of your new baby.
While you might not feel up to photographs just ten days after giving birth, waiting has its advantages too. That is OK! Some of my parents might opt to just photography the baby and wait for family photos a few months down the road.
WHAT IS A FRESH 48 SESSION?
First of all, the baby fresh 48 sessions isn’t just about your new baby, but the whole hospital experience. Don’t get me wrong, there will be a lot of photographs of your new baby for sure. What I am there to capture is what is what it was like to welcome a new baby in your life.
The hours following a birth are very special too and filled with “first times”. Also, imagine capturing the first time your older children meet their new baby sister or brother. Or when you bring your baby home from the hospital and we can do this in your own home as a home session. Maybe you’d love to capture your precious pet meeting this new little intruder. Seems like we could go on forever with the list of “first” for your new baby.
This time in your life doesn’t have to be picture perfect. It will most likely be different from what you have imagined. Finding your new role as our family changes will take time, as well as getting to know this new little person.
Hence, being a part of your baby fresh 48 session would be an honor for me.
